With the Blues having won just once in this year's competition it is all about the Exiles on Friday as the Pool 3 table-toppers go in search of the bonus-point win that would guarantee progression.
Despite the Blues having won their last two clashes at the Arms Park, Irish's cause looks to be considerably aided by the absence of star Wales quartet Jamie Roberts, Leigh Halfpenny, Alex Cuthbert and Sam Warburton.
However while content to discuss the possibility of fluid game plans built around bonus-point chasing Evans has played down the absentee factor.
"Obviously they will be without a few players like Jamie Roberts, Leigh Halfpenny and Sam Warburton but it is still going to be a very tough game because they have got a lot of quality players. We are expecting a tough game," Evans said.
"We have been in that situation ourselves when you are missing players and you might have younger players coming in. But they will be looking to prove a point.
"The bonus point is always in the back of your mind but first off we have got to do our job and try and win the game.
"It is about building a score and trying to get a lead and then just seeing where you are at and then you can make a decision if you wanted to try and kick a penalty to the corner rather than going for goal perhaps."
The Blues have won their last four games against Aviva Premiership opposition while for Irish - unbeaten in 2013 - anything less than a bonus-point win will see them anxiously keeping an eye on Saracens' result.
The Welsh region have won just one of the side's previous three LV= Cup encounters, 31-7 at the Arms Park in December 2006, and Blues wing Harry Robinson said.
"While it is still mathematically possible to reach the semi-finals I know the boys will dig deep and we will not give up by any means," he said.
"Some of the boys have been slogging away for six months now since pre-season without getting much game time but this competition and the fact that people are away on international duty allows some of us to change that.
"It is a chance to put your hand up for more game time and put your name on the back of a shirt so we will have that in mind as we take on London Irish.
"Even though they are at the other end of the table compared to Saracens they are still a threat and one we will not be underestimating."
