Sale have just one win in their last nine games in all competitions and are rooted to the bottom of the Aviva Premiership table, five points adrift.
But with both sides heading into this weekend's clash with one victory and one loss under their belts, it is all to play for.
And centre Owen, who himself returns from a ban, is adamant Scarlets will not take the threat the Sharks possess in their own back yard lightly.
"Sale might be at the bottom of the Premiership right now but we can't bring form into the game at all really," Owen said.
"We know that they will want to put in a big performance to kick-start their push up the Premiership table so we have to be wary of that.
"So while they might not be having the best of times at the moment they will be eager to do something about that as soon as possible and we have to make sure we don't let them.
"There is still a lot to play for in the competition for both sides and both have a bunch of players with a lot to prove.
"So we won't be underestimating Sale for sure and hopefully we can get the win."
Scarlets' Heineken Cup hopes ended with a whimper as they finished bottom of their pool with just two points to their name.
And although they are flying high in the RaboDirect PRO12, Owen is adamant they won't be treating the LV= Cup with any less than 100 per cent dedication.
"The LV= Cup is a great competition as it gives guys who are on the fringes of the first team some game time to show what they can do," he added.
"And we have some really big league games coming up so these next two LV= Cup games will be massively important for us.
"We want to pick up two victories so we head back into the league with momentum so we will be going all out to do just that."
