However since then Corker has been restricted to just five substitute appearances in the Aviva Premiership, instead preferred to start the last three Amlin Challenge Cup fixtures, including last weekend's convincing 62-5 victory over Club I Cavalieri.
Corker though has another chance to show his worth when the Exiles travel to face Stade Francais, with the 30-year-old looking to get some revenge for the 68-19 home defeat dealt by the French outfit earlier in the season.
And with LV= Cup games against Harlequins and Newport Gwent Dragons soon after, Corker is hoping to put his name in the mix for his side's return to Aviva Premiership action against Leicester Tigers next month.
"It's a very competitive squad at the moment and I'm trying to work really hard on my own game," said Corker.
"The opportunity to get 80 minutes against Cavalieri was massive for me. It's great to know I'll be starting again on the weekend against Stade Francais.
"Every time you take to the rugby field you can put your hand up and show everyone what you can do. I'm always aware of that each time I have the opportunity.
"The defeat to Stade Francais was one of the worst days of my career. We're obviously keen to get a bit of retribution.
"We were really pleased with the win over Cavalieri. It was a very clinical performance.
"We managed to play some expansive rugby which is something we're looking at introducing to our game.
"It was great for everyone to have a bit of ball in hand. It gave us the opportunity to work on certain skills that we don't get the chance to work on in the Aviva Premiership.
"Obviously in the Aviva Premiership the opposition are of a better standard and you have to defend a lot more."
London Welsh have been on the receiving end of three consecutive Aviva Premiership defeats with Harlequins edging them 31-26 last time out.
That came after a 34-16 home defeat to London Wasps and another narrow loss, this time 13-6 at Worcester Warriors.
They face a tough test at Welford Road on February 9 before a crunch tie with bottom club Sale Sharks - and Corker insists every match is vital.
"Every game is crucial to us and it's important we get something from all of them," he added.
"That attitude has got us into the position we're in. We've fought hard for every single point we've earned.
"It's definitely not going to be easy against Leicester Tigers. They've got a great record at home.
"But they'll be missing a few guys for the Six Nations and we'll be looking to take on some of the momentum we've gained in the European break.
"The game against Sale will be very decisive for both clubs. We've got to keep moving forward and it's a big opportunity for us to do that."
