That was enough to reignite Saints' push for an Aviva Premiership play-off place after back-to-back defeats against Harlequins and Saracens.
And Clark insists the strength in depth at the club is to key to ensuring they kick on from that result.
He said: "It's great to be in the side and playing with all the lads. We've not had all the results we want, we've not performed the way we wanted to but we'll keep going and believing and we hope it'll come right for us.
"We were pleased how it went against Exeter, we took them on up front, we scored from a couple of driving mauls and we had quite a bit of success with our scrums.
"I think each year we get through new challenges and as a player it's a good environment to be in, we just put it on ourselves to improve. It's quite a high-pressured environment where you have to perform each week to stay in the team and get picked so that's really positive and only going to help us moving on.
"We know we have a good reputation as a pack but you have to back it up each week in order to keep it, it doesn't really stand for a lot if you don't go out there every weekend and perform so we have to look at each game individually and prepare for it properly and know what challenges are coming.
"I think that [rotation] has come with a bit of time, players have developed and are comfortable stepping in, people are getting a chance to rest in the back row and second row and that's something we want to spread throughout the squad as we move forward."
With the morale-boosting win at Sandy Park under their belts Northampton now turn to European action where wins against Castres and Glasgow are imperative to keep their Heineken Cup quarter-final hopes alive.
French side Castres are first up at Franklin's Gardens, and Clark admits that Saints' home form has not been as good as the side would liked so far this campaign.
He added: "It's been a while since we've performed how we've wanted to perform at home. "We haven't quite done what we have wanted to do when the bigger teams have come here and we've had quite a lot of pressure put on us so it's important we go out there and do our job.
"As we've seen so far, the group's quite tight with three teams still alive in it so every result is important, every game is big and it will probably come down to bonus points so we're going to have to work hard."
