The 36-year-old admits his 13th season with the Tigers has been quite a contrast to previous years, having to watch from the bench whilst now England hooker Tom Youngs occupies the No.2 shirt.
But Chuter, who has made just three starts in the Aviva Premiership this season, insists imparting his knowledge on the training pitch, challenging his younger peers and setting a good example is just as important.
And as his side prepare for European action and battle with Ospreys, off the back of an important 19-14 away win against Worcester Warriors, the former England hooker is confident his successor will rise to the occasion.
"I would give my right arm to play for Leicester," said Chuter, who has made 284 appearances for the Tigers and is the Premiership's all-time record appearance holder. "But Tom [Youngs] is our first choice hooker and is doing a great job.
"It has been a difficult season with a back-seat role but that is the evolution of a player. I know I am not a young spring chicken anymore and I have spent more time on the bench.
"I wouldn't say it is pleasant but I have come to expect it but I feel I have found my niche at the club with helping others around the club and challenging them.
"This sort of game [against Ospreys] in the last few seasons I would be playing but this year it is a little different.
"I have worked with Tom this year and last and I am happy to do so. He will ask me for advice and he is like a sponge. He is a great bloke first and foremost and an excellent rugby player."
More pleasing for Chuter was the Tigers' successful festive period as they recorded three straight victories including a tough 17-12 win over play-off contenders Gloucester Rugby.
And taking a great deal of momentum with them into round five of the Heineken Cup, Chuter is glad to see the squad aren't treating this weekend like any other with all to play for at the Liberty Stadium.
"We were very happy with the result against Worcester as it is notoriously a very tough place to go," he added.
"It ended an excellent Christmas period for us and we achieved what we set out to so that gives us a platform to go on when the Aviva Premiership returns.
"We have kept the momentum going ahead of this weekend which is going to be a step up in intensity and quality and I have already started to see that.
"Guys are on edge and that is the way it should be. These games shouldn't be viewed the same as any other. It is a step up and not too far off test match intensity."
